Hello reader, since you have stumbled upon my blog, I insist you keep reading. I promise I am only boring sometimes. So, my name is Noor Asad and I am in 2nd year studying Biopharmaceutical Sciences. It is often hard to decide and pinpoint what it is you want to do at this point in your career and I am sure many of you agree. But, let me tell you one thing, for me it’s definitely not medical school, as most of you would have thought. Maybe research, pharmacy school, dental school? Who knows, there is still “some” time to decide that. But, more importantly let’s focus on the factors that will lead to those pathways; my marks AND my involvement in extracurricular activities, otherwise I can pretty much wish to be or do anything I desire.

Coming back to the extracurricular activities, the sooner you realize the better it is, that these are not just elements you put on your CV, but experiences that help you move forward to greater opportunities in life. Any program comes with the responsibility of looking beyond just studying. It has become essential to add more to your skill set in order to stand out and be identifiable. It is not hard to do, it just requires initiative and the want to stand out amongst 800 other students who want to become a doctor (I don’t but who knows you might).

So that was a pep-talk I guess, I mostly just wrote that for myself, because sometimes I forget a bad mark on a midterm does not determine my future.
